Winter Ice Fishing
on Forest Lakes!
Imagine yourself in the quiet solitude
of the Kola wilderness, the winter snow sparkling under a bright
Polar sun. You're standing in the middle of a deeply frozen
forest lake, and you are about to experience what is quite possibly the
favorite winter activity in Russia. Ice
fishing!
This five-day excursion will take you to remote areas where you'll
rarely see another person, and where the preferred method of transport
from one lake to another is by snowmobile. The first and last nights
of your journey will be spent in a comfortable house on the shore of
the Umbozero Lake. There you'll have an opportunity to enjoy another
wonderful new experience, the traditional Russian banya, a sauna absolutely
unlike any you've ever had before!
This trip takes the sport of fishing to a whole new level! Once you
try it we know you'll be "hooked"!
